New college for Jowai

Shillong, April 24: Jaintia Hills district will soon have a college of applied sciences.
Education minister Manas Chaudhuri said Nehu was planning to set up a college at Jowai in the Jaintia Hills based on a proposal made in the Eleventh Plan.
The registrar of Nehu has informed the government Nehu’s academic council has approved the proposal, following a request made by Jowai Citizens Welfare Association (JCWA). The association has offered a plot of land for the proposed college, he said, adding that Nehu would set up the college only if it receives financial support from the UGC.
