Sisters wait over the body of their brother

KOTTAYAM: In bizarre case being reported from Kumarakom, two elderly sisters, both mentally challenged, sat in wait over the body of their aging brother for more than a week at their home.
According to police, the body of Thomas (78) was found in a highly decomposed state at his home when neighbours reached there after stench began emanating from the house.
His two sisters, Kunjoojamma and Thresyamma were sitting in wait near the body which was lying in a room.
This is the second such incident at their home. In December 2003, the three siblings were found sitting in wait beside the body of their mother. It was found that the body was nearly six months old as only the skeleton was all that remained.
The body of Thomas was taken for post-mortem and was laid to rest at St John’s Church cemetery in the evening.
The care of the two sisters has been entrusted to Navajeevan, a non-governmental organisation.
Incidentally, the sisters own nearly one and a half acres of land, which at the present market rate, would fetch crores of rupees.
