Yuvraj label insulting: Rahul Gandhi

Saturday, April 26, 2008 (Kanker, Chhatisgarh)
For the Chhattisgarh Congress he's the future. So the walls of tribal homes, the posters and banners had one clear message - Rahul Gandhi.Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are clearly missing.Touring perhaps the poorest region in the country, Rahul told Congressmen that calling him ''Yuvraj'' or crown prince was an insult.''Personally speaking being called a Yuvraj is an insult. Manmohan Singh is an effective and capable prime minister.,'' said Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary, Congress. His projection as the next prime minister has been causing embarrassment to Rahul Gandhi, the Congress president and even the prime minister. To Congressmen who were busy projecting Rahul as the next PM, more to project themselves closer to the Congress party's first family, a strong signal has been sent.Rahul Gandhi also sent a signal to UP CM Mayawati, she had talked about Rahul Gandhi using a special soap after visiting Dalit homes in UP. This is what he said.''Does it look like that I use a special soap but what I would like to say is that I will continue to listen to people and their sufferings,'' said Rahul.During his two-day tour Rahul walked in the tribal areas plagued by poverty and Naxal threat. He took inputs from people on what ails his party. On Sunday he will be in Madhya Pradesh, another state where elections are due this year hoping that his party will continue what he has started in a state where the Congress plans to recover lost ground.
